With Windows Vista, 7 and 8, OpenVPN GUI shortcut should be launched by a right click on it and run as administrator.
To run as a regular shortcut, you need to check the box "always run as administrator" in its properties in the "Compatibility" tab".
If the program is already running, you must close it and restart it according to the instructions above.
Note: The problem described above has been completely resolved in our own VPN software. A version is currently available for Windows, Android, Mac OS and iOS.
